February 12, 2002 In their first BIG EAST Conference dual match of the 2002 season, Georgetown was shut out by Virginia Tech 7-0, on Sunday evening Feb. 10 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. With the loss Georgetown falls to 1-2 on the season while the Hokies, ranked #59 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll, improve to 4-1. The Hoyas dropped the doubles point as Va. Tech swept all three matches. The Hoyas No. 1 team of Marc Lohser (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Erik Bildman (Brookline, Mass./Roxbury Latin School) was defeated 8-1 by Francis Huot and Saber Kadiri. Playing in the No. 2 spot, Ken Jordan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and Nick Sklavounos (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) fell to Andreas Laulund and Stephane Rod 8-4. In the No. 3 doubles match, Troy Crichlow (Milton, Mass./Milton) and Dennis Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) were edged by David Emery and Michael Kurz 9-7. In singles the Hoyas struggled against a tough Tech line-up. At No. 1 Lohser fell to Laulund 6-1, 6-0. Playing in the No. 2 spot, Cravedi was defeated by Kurz 6-2, 6-4. Hoya No.3 Crichow was downed by Rod 6-2, 6-2. In the closest match of the day, Bildman was defeated by Emery at #4 singles 4-6, 6-1, 10-5. #5 Sklavounos was defeated by Grant Semon 6-4, 6-3 and #6 Ken Jordan fell to Adel Abbas 6-1, 6-3.
