The Hoya Men’s Tennis Team downed the Towson Tigers 7-0 on Wednesday, March 13 in the first home match at the Georgetown Outdoor Tennis Complex.

In the doubles competition, GU swept the three matches. At #3 doubles the Hoya tandem of Andre Benjamin (New York, N.Y./Fieldston) and Dennis Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) defeated Matt Shore and Todd Nagel 8-2. At #1 doubles Hoyas Marc Lohser (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Erik Bildman (Brookline, Mass./Roxbury Latin School) defeated Bryan Rowland and Trey Ragase 8-2. At #2 doubles senior captains Nick Sklavounos (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) and Ken Jordan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) downed Chris Rowland and Andrew Davis 8-6.

Leading the team match by a 1-0 score as a result of taking the doubles competition, the Hoyas then followed with a sweep of the singles competition. At #6 singles Sklavounos shut out Nagel 6-0, 6-0. Bildman at #5 singles and Crichlow at #4 singles only surrendered one game, defeating Shore and C. Rowland respectively 6-1, 6-0. Benjamin posted a straight set 6-2, 6-3 victory over Dan Selzer at #3 singles. Cravedi also claimed a straight set victory by winning a closely fought second set to defeat Ragase at #2 singles 6-1, 7-5. The match of the day was played at #1 singles as Marc Lohser won a back and forth battle with Bryan Rowland 7-6(6), 6-7(4), 7-6(2) to cap the Hoya sweep.

This weekend the Hoyas face a tough task as they visit University of Virginia on Saturday and then host conference rival Boston College in their second BIG EAST match of the 2002 season.
