3/31/2003 Chestnut Hill, Mass.— Georgetown men’s tennis team traveled to Chestnut Hill, Mass. this past weekend and lost to the Boston College Eagles, 1-6. For the season, Georgetown’s record now stands at 0-7 and 0-3 in BIG EAST play. In the doubles competition, the Hoyas were able to win one of three matches. GU’s #2 team of Ryan Peisel (Savannah, Ga./Savannah Country Day) and Dennis Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) earned a 9-7 victory over BC’s Damon Vartabedian and Paul Colahan. Georgetown earned one victory out of the six singles matches, that being Eric Bildman’s (Brookline, Mass./Roxbury Latin School) 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 win at #4 singles. At #1, Cravedi lost to Brad Anderson, 6-3, 6-0, while Justin Slattery disposed of Marc Lohser (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 at #2 singles. At #3, Chris Belelieu (Hinsdale, Ill./Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.)) was downed by Chris McCoy, 6-1, 6-4, and at #5, Eric Conrad (Gloucester, Mass.) lost a three-setter to Ross Pytko (6-2, 1-6, 1-0). The tough day was topped off when Peisel lost to Kiernan Laughlin 6-2, 6-2 at #6 singles. Next for Georgetown is a trip to Fairfax, Va., where the Hoyas will face George Mason on Tuesday, April 1 at 2:30 p.m.
