Georgetown Wins Two in a Row With 5-2 Win Over GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 12) - Georgetown's men's tennis team won its second dual match in a row with a 5-2 win over local rival George Washington on Wednesday, April 12 at the McDonough Tennis Courts.

Georgetown (5-18) swept doubles to claim the doubles point and won four of six singles matches en route to the victory. The duo of Marc Lohser (Fr., Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Beau Brewer (Sr., Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) defeated Mike Stein and Drew Zamansky, 9-8 at No. 1. Sophomore Nick Sklavounos (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) and Troy Crichlow (Fr., Wilton, Mass./Milton) handed Kinzie Wright and Nick Vikstrom an 8-5 loss at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, the tandem of Ken Jordan (So., Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) and Dave Boyer (Sr., Winston-Salem, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) outdistanced Mike Melen and David Yans by a 9-7 score.

In singles action, Sklavounos outplayed Wright at No. 1 to the tune of 6-0, 6-0. Brewer and Jordan each lost just won game in their matches at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Brewer posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Zamansky at No. 4, and Jordan topped Vikstrom 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Boyer was the other singles victor downing Mike Melen, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 6. Georgetown's two losses were at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Lohser fell 6-4, 7-5 to Stein at No. 2 and Wright defeated Crichlow 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3.

GU's men's tennis team travels to face BIG EAST Conference opponents West Virginia and Rutgers on Saturday, April 15, in Morgantown, W.Va. The Hoyas battle the Mountaineers at 9:00 a.m. and then face the Scarlet Knights at 2:00 p.m.
