Notre Dame Blanks Hoya Men's Tennis 4-0 in BIG EAST Championships
MIAMI (April 21, 2000) -- Georgetown dropped a 4-0 decision to Notre Dame in a quarterfinal match at the 2000 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The Hoyas (6-21) will now have to square off against 5th-seeded Rutgers on Saturday in the consolation bracket. The Scarlet Knights lost in the quarterfinals to #4 West Virginia 4-1.
Tenth-seeded Georgetown was never in the match against the 29th-nationally ranked and No. 2 seed Fighting Irish as Notre Dame won three singles matches in straight sets and led the other singles matches when play was halted. The Irish also claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
