Georgetown Track & Field Continues at NCAA Championships

June 13, 2008

Washington, D.C. - On the second day of competition of the NCAA Track & Field Championships, hosted by Drake University at Drake Stadium, the Hoyas continued to put up strong performances as they vie for a place in the final round of each of their respective events.

Junior Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) ran the third-best time of the 1500m preliminary heats and qualified for the finals on Saturday. His time of 3:42.28 was enough to win his heat and he automatically qualified for the final round. Also advancing to the final was senior Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) who timed in at 3:54.25.

Junior Michael Krisch (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins) ran the 10,000m with a time of 30:57.97 to finish 23rd in the field.

In the women's 1500m run, junior Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont) recorded the best time for the Hoyas with a time of 4:33.57 while graduate student Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./Academy of Holy Names) clocked in at 4:39.75 in the preliminary heat.

The Hoyas will be back on the track Saturday when Bumbalough and DeBole compete in the final round of the 1500m run.
