Cory McNeill joined the Hoya program in May of 2007 after spending five years at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Md. McNeill will concentrate on the development of the offense and defense, player development, team and individual scouting reports and preseason conditioning. McNeill worked under two-time MEAC Coach of the Year Derek Brown helping the Eagles to two- straight MEAC Championships, three consecutive regular season championships, two straight NCAA appearances and an NIT appearance. The CSU women's program became the first historically black college or university (HBCU) to earn a win in the post-season, a 67-52 WNIT victory over St. Joseph's in 2007. Also, McNeill helped Coppin State post the nation's second longest winning streak in 2006-07. In addition, Coppin State compiled a 49-0 MEAC regular season record against conference opponents. A native of Baltimore, McNeill graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School and went on to attend Morgan State University, where he also played basketball for the Bears. During his four-year career at Morgan State, McNeill averaged 10 points, two rebounds and three assist per game. McNeill received his bachelor of science degree in finance from Morgan State in 2002. He earned his Master's degree in public administration in 2005 from the University of Baltimore. On the basketball floor, McNeill was primarily responsible for the development of the Coppin State guards. During his coaching career at Coppin, McNeill was extremely instrumental in developing them as the best guards in the league. Each year at Coppin he helped raise the guards point production by two points each season. McNeill's responsibilities also included recruiting, team and individual player scouting reports, and participating in the development of the offense and defense. He also served as the strength and conditioning coach. In addition, he established communication with other institutions in reference to film exchange. |
