Washington, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women's basketball team (7-6, 0-2 BE) dropped their first home game of the season with a 74-54 loss to visiting St. John's at McDonough Arena. The defeat snapped a four-game home winning streak. The Red Storm improves 12-2, 2-1 in BIG EAST action. Sophomore Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led the Hoyas with 15 points, including 7-7 from the free throw line while senior Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y / Garden City) and sophomore Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Hoyas missed their final 16 shots of the first half from the 12:33 mark on, allowing the Red Storm to open up a 44-18 halftime lead. It is the biggest halftime deficit GU has faced this season. St. John's opened a 51-24 advantage with 15:09 to play before the Hoyas rattled off a mini 13-6 run to close to 60-42 with 6:56 remaining. Heidloff drained a three-pointer at the 4:21 mark to pull Georgetown within 47-66 but it would be as close as the Hoyas would get. The Red Storm shot 45 percent to the Hoyas' 30 percent. SJU outrebounded Georgetown 51-30. Angela Clark led the Red Storm with her eighth double-double of the season with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Georgetown hosts Providence College in a BIG EAST match-up in McDonough Arena on Wednesday, January 11. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game can been seen live on www.guhoyas.com.
