Boiling Springs, N.C. - Every Georgetown University women's basketball player who logged minutes scored and the Hoyas posted a 72-63 road victory against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night inside Paul Porter Arena. The Hoyas evened their record at 1-1 while the Runnin' Bulldogs fell to 1-1.

Senior Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) connected for 17 points for the second consecutive game, senior guard Brina Pollack (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) matched a career-high with 12 points and sophomore Jaleesa Butler (St. Louis, Mo./Alton (Ill.)) set a new career-high with 10 points in the win. Sophomore guard Meredith Cox (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) tallied eight points and a career-high seven rebounds off the bench.

The game was tied 49-49 with 12:08 to go in the second half but Gardner-Webb went scoreless over the next eight plus minutes as GU pulled away.

Georgetown committed four early turnovers and Gardner-Webb pulled down seven rebounds through the first five-plus minutes in the period to take a 46-43 lead with 14:40 to go.

The Hoyas settled down with Cox calmly hitting a long trey from the top of the key at 14:02 to tie the game at 46-46.

GU began to execute better on the offensive end, scoring on its next five possessions. Center Aminata Diop hit a long jumper, followed by three more points from Marlow. Cox converted on an old fashioned three point play before Marlow muscled in a layup for a 56-48 Georgetown lead with 9:49 remaining.

Gardner-Webb was in the midst of a scoreless stretch while the Hoyas played effectively on both ends of the floor. The Hoyas built a 61-48 lead with 6:37 left. Marlow, Pollack and Cox all scored for Georgetown during the span.

The Hoyas led 43-37 at intermission. The 43 first half points was the biggest single-half output since GU netted 44 points vs. Fordham last season.

The game had a frenetic pace early on. Butler, who came off the bench, was 5-5 from the floor in the game's first nine minutes, setting a new career-high.

Three consecutive field goals, including a high arching three pointer from freshman Monique Hudson brought the Runnin' Bulldogs to within 24-20 with 8:45 to go.

But following a media timeout, a Marlow nailed an elbow jumper before Fuller was the recipient of a long Kirkland pass in transition for an easy layup. The next two trips down the floor, Aminata Diop and Brina Pollack connected on four straight free throws for a 34-23 Hoya advantage.

Diop knocked down a layup after hauling in an offensive rebound and then Kristin Heidloff hit a trey less than a minute later as the Hoyas extended their largest lead of the game, 39-27 with 3:16 to go.

GU outrebounded Gardner-Webb, 24-14 in the first 20 minutes and 47-35 for the game.

Kenya Kirkland (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) tallied five points and a career-high six rebounds in 28 minutes.

Georgetown has its home opener on Friday, November 16 when the Blue and Gray hosts American University at 7:30 p.m. inside McDonough Arena.
