St. Joseph Acad.) scored all seven of her points in the first half and junior transfer Aminata Diop (Saint-Louis, Senegal/Southeastern Illinois J.C.) recorded eight points, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Georgetown then went on an 8-0 run with Marlow scoring five points during the stretch for a 49-41 lead. After the Eagles worked to get within 49-46, Georgetown sophomore transfer Brina Pollack (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) connected on two free throws and Marlow hit a layup and a three-pointer on consecutive trips to go along with a Kirkland old-fashioned three-point play for a 59-49 Hoya bulge.
American closed to 59-56 with 1:03 to go but Carlin fed Diop who scored off of a post move to keep the Hoyas ahead 61-56 with 34 seconds left.
