Dec. 30, 2005

Box Score

Washington, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women's basketball team (7-4) remained unbeaten at home (4-0) and ran their win streak to a season-best three with a 69-56 win over Clemson in non-league action at McDonough Arena. Clemson falls to 6-7.

Georgetown had four players in double-figures for the third time this season, led by sophomore Kieraah Marlow's (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) game-high 23. Freshman Katrina Wheeler (Washington, D.C./T Roosevelt) totaled 12 points and nine rebounds while senior Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) added 12 points. Junior Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph's) chipped in with ten points.

Georgetown made 25-30 free throws and scored 23 points off 24 Lady Tiger turnovers. Clemson made just four trips to the free throw line.

The Hoyas raced out to a 16-2 lead through the first nine minutes as Clemson converted on just one of their first ten field goal attempts. GU took a 37-25 lead into the lockerroom as Marlow hit for 12 points while LeSueur notched eight.

Georgetown took a commanding 45-30 advantage on a Carlin trey with 16:08 remaining before Clemson went on a 12-2 run to trim the Hoya bulge to 47-42 with 12:08 left.

The Hoyas stiffened and went up by ten, 58-48, with 6:51 remaining on two more Marlow free throws and Clemson would get no closer than ten points the rest of the way.

Georgetown freshman Nikki Bozeman (District Heights, Md./Bishop McNamara) posted a new career-high with five assists in 23 minutes while Carlin set a new career-best with five steals.

The Hoyas improve to 6-1 when they hold a lead with five minutes left and 6-0 when they lead at halftime.

Georgetown, which concluded their non-league slate (7-4), opens BIG EAST action on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at No. 8 Connecticut.
