Feb. 20, 2007 Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (12-14, 2-11 BE) will look to snap a three-game slide when the Hoyas visit Notre Dame (18-8, 9-4 BE) on Wednesday evening, February 21 at the Joyce Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.. The Hoyas will be attempting to break a four-game road losing streak while Notre Dame is playing for its sixth straight win. The Irish are 6-0 at home in league play. GU starts a stretch of three games in eight days on Wednesday. With three regular-season games remaining, the Hoyas will need to earn a couple of victories in order to qualify for one of the 12 BIG EAST Tournament spots. GU still has left to play at ND, at Providence on Saturday before concluding the regular-season with a home game vs. Pittsburgh on Monday. Fast Breaks ... Georgetown is 2-0 in games played on Wednesday (Mt. St. Mary's, Savannah St.). -- The Hoyas rank fifth in the BIG EAST, averaging 9.2 steals per game. -- GU ripped down 50 rebs vs. Syracuse last Saturday. It was the most Hoya rebounds since the Hoyas collected 52 rebounds in a win vs. Providence on January 29, 2005. -- Junior forward Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) has 422 points this season, surpassing her point toal of last season (404) with three regular-season games remaining. Marlow has scored in double-figures in ten straight games, matching her longest double-figure scoring stretch since the first ten games of her freshman season in the 2004-05 season. -- Marlow has hauled in 614 career rebounds and is just the eighth GU player to surpass the 1,100-point and 600-rebound marks. -- The Hoyas had won their first seven games when leading at the half but Georgetown has lost its last two games when holding the advantage at intermission (Seton Hall & Syracuse). -- In the Hoyas' two BIG EAST wins, GU's opponents are shooting just 33 percent from the floor and averaging just 49 points. In Georgetown's league losses, their opponents are shooting 48 percent from the field and averaging 70 points. -- GU has hit 28 three-pointers in its last six games, its best six-game, long-range shooting stretch against BIG EAST foes. Junior Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) (9) and Meredith Cox (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) (12) have combined for 21 treys in the span. -- The Hoyas have posted a 4-1 record in games decided by three points or less. -- Sophomore Katrina Wheeler, a McDonald's All-American out of T. Roosevelt H.S. in Washington, D.C., leads the team and ranks 9th in the BIG EAST with 8.0 rebounds per game. She ranks second on the squad with 8.3 points per game. Wheeler has already hauled down double-figure rebounds eight times this season after recording seven doubles all of last season. -- The team's only senior, Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) ranks fifth on the team with 5.7 points per game. Carlin, who will be playing in her 110th career game Saturday, set a school record with nine threes in the win over Fordham and the nine treys is also the single-game high by a BIG EAST player this season. Carlin ranks 13th in the league, shooting 34.8 percent from behind the arc. Scouting Notre Dame ... Notre Dame (18-8, 9-4) has won a season-best five straight games. Junior guard Charel Allen has led the team in scoring in the last six games and averages 17.4 points on the season and more than 20 points vs. BIG EAST opponents. Freshman guard Ashley Barlow is the averaging 10.9 points per game. The Irish are 6-0 at home in league play. The Series ... Notre Dame leads the all-time series 20-2 and 10-0 in games played in South Bend. Georgetown's last win came n January 7, 2004 in Washington, D.C. Hoya senior Kate Carlin is the only Hoya to have recorded a victory over the Irish.
