BIG EAST Releases 2008-09 Women's Basketball Television Schedule

Washington, D.C. - The BIG EAST Conference released its 2008-09 women's basketball television schedule Thursday. A total of 98 appearances are scheduled on six different channels including CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS College Sports and the BIG EAST-Regional Sports Network Package/Saturday Game of the Week. The Hoyas have two games scheduled for television, both are on the road.

All 16 BIG EAST schools are included in this season's television package with a record number of games on both ESPNU (31) and CBS College Sports (25). The conference boasts two non-conference games on CBS and three appearances on ESPN. This year's BIG EAST Tournament will feature all 16 teams in Hartford, Conn., March 6-10, with 11 games televised including the championship on ESPN.

Georgetown will make its 2008-09 television debut on Tuesday, January 13 in a contest at St. John's. The game will be broadcast on CBS College Sports as the Game of the Week at 7 p.m. The Hoyas will travel to Providence on Saturday, February 14 for a match-up that will be televised on the BIG EAST-RSN. Tip-off against the Friars is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Georgetown welcomes seven newcomers to the program and returns three of its top six scorers from last season. The Hoyas begin the year with a road contest at Jacksonville State on November 16. They will host Central Michigan in their home opener on November 22 at McDonough Arena.
