Georgetown to Compete in Ayres Hotel Thanksgiving Classic

Nov. 26, 2008

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will play back-to-back days for the first time this season as the squad competes in the Ayres Hotel Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Loyola Marymount University this Friday and Saturday. The 4-0 Hoyas will play the North Dakota State Bison (1-2) on Friday at 7 p.m., ET. The squad will face either Idaho State or the host Lions on Saturday.

Georgetown enters the game with a 4-0 record, making this the best start under Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy and tying the top mark since the 2003-04 season. The Hoyas boast seven freshmen on the roster and two who have worked their way in to the starting lineup and one that ranks in the BIG EAST. Georgetown has been steady in the paint averaging 40 points per game in the lane, however, last game GU broke out hitting 11 three's from four different players. Georgetown has also proven to be deep so far this season averaging 32.2 points per game from the bench which is a 5.4 advantage over opponents.

North Dakota State was picked sixth in The Summit League preseason poll released in October. The squad is 1-2 and has been led by Abby Plucker who connected for a career-high 20 points against Valley City State. Head Coach Carolyn DeHoff recorded her first victory as a collegiate head coach against Valley City State. DeHoff came to NDSU from the University of Utah where she was an associate head coach.

Idaho State is 2-3 and averaging 57.6 points per game as a team. The Bengals are led by a pair of posts down low who lead the squad in both scoring and rebounding.

Loyola Marymount is 3-1 on the season falling only to Arizona so far this year. The Lions are led by point guard Renahy Young who is averaging 16.8 PPG and 3.0 assists per game.

Gametracker will be available for both games, the link will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. A radio broadcast will also be featured on the Georgetown website, the link is located in the women's basketball schedule.
