Bothwell ran track and cross-country for four years. She was the Captain of her Cross-Country Team in 2005 and the captain of her Track and Field team in 2006. Her Cross-Country Team was the champion for four years. Her Cross-Country Team placed eighth at the League Championships in 2005. She was a Nation Merit Scholar and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Karin is the daughter of Jan and Paul Bothwell. She attended The Winsor School.
