Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's crew team placed seventh on Sunday at the 2006 BIG EAST Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Notre Dame won the title for the third straight year. In other action this weekend, the Hoyas women's lightweight hosted Wisconsin and Ohio State on the Potomac River on Saturday.

Notre Dame was first with 122 points, followed by Louisville (103) and Syracuse (76) rounding out the top three spots. Georgetown was seventh with 47 points. Highlighting the day's action for the Hoyas was their victory in the novice four grand final, crossing the finish in a time of 7:49.87, ahead of Notre Dame (7:54.29). Georgetown also qualified for the grand finals in the varsity eight and varsity four with second place finishes in both heats. The Hoyas also would place fourth in both event's grand finals, finishing the varsity eight in 6:45.65 and the varsity four in 7:47.57. The Fighting Irish won both in times of 6:28.32 and 7:33.00, respectively.

In the lightweight tri-match on the Potomac, Wisconsin swept the three races - varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight. In the varsity eight, the Badgers finished in 6:08.9, followed by Georgetown at 6:21.4 and Ohio State at 6:27.4. Wisconsin (7:23.5) won the varsity four by a mere 4.1 seconds over the Hoyas, while taking the novice eight by 7.8 seconds with a time of 6:41.3.
