3/29/2004 REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – Harvard defeated Georgetown by one length, and the defending IRA National champion Princeton lightweight women’s varsity took top honors in its division with a 10-second victory over the Stanford women’s lightweight eight at the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic at the Redwood Shores Lagoon on March 28. Georgetown finished in 7:01.64 to defeat Stanford (7:06.44) in the event's fifth race on Saturday, before falling to Princeton later in the day. The Tigers timed 7:15.20, while the Hoyas managed 7:21.31. Harvard, rowing in Black and White as Radcliffe, defeated Georgetown by one length, finishing in 6:53.60 to the Hoyas’ 6:55.60. Elsewhere, in North Carolina, the host Tar Heels earned wins in the second varsity eight and novice four races during a morning of competition Saturday at Lake Wheeler. Georgetown claimed victories in the varsity four, novice eight and second novice eight, while Indiana won the final race of the day, the varsity eight. Saturday's racing in Raleigh took place under sunny skies, with calm water and light tailwinds on the first half of the course. In the second 1,000 meters, crews encountered rough waters with increasing tailwinds.
