Georgetown Second Novice Eight Women Take Top Spot at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge

WORCESTER, Mass. - Georgetown women's crew competed in the BIG EAST Women's Rowing Challenge this weekend, finishing fifth out of nine schools in the overall team standings and winning the top prize in the second novice eight.

Georgetown's Varsity Lightweight Eight and Second Varsity Lightweight Eight took seventh place while the Novice Eight placed fifth and the Second Varsity Four took fourth.  The Hoyas narrowly missed top spot in the Novice Four, losing to overall champions Syracuse by less than seven seconds while the Varsity Four raced to a fifth place finish.

The champion Second Novie Eight finished in a time of 7:08.12, outpacing the second place West Virginia boat by 12 seconds.

Georgetown looks forward to the EAWRC Sprints on Sunday, May 18 in Camden, New Jersey.
