West Virginia 20 Boston, MA -- The 6th ranked Hoyas met the 3rd ranked Radcliffe crew on the Charles River Saturday in an Eastern Sprints league dual. Racing on a light chop in the Charles River Basin into a light cross headwind, both crews got off the line cleanly with Georgetown taking a slight advantage through the high strokes. As the crews settled into their racing cadences, the Radcliffe crew moved back through the Hoyas during the second 500M of the race. As the crews approached the midway point of the race, the oar handle of the three-seat Hoya broke resulting in an overhead crab. Georgetown completed the race with seven of the eight rowers racing while the three-seat had to sit out holding her broken oar to prevent further crabs. At the time of the breakage the Hoyas were about a half to three-quarters length down to Radcliffe.Complete results of heats and finals can be accessed at the website row2k.com.
