Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's crews had eight of their student-athletes recognized by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) and thus, were named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes.

The requirements for this award are that the student-athlete must have met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, currently be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races and/or raced in a regional conference event. Finally, the student-athlete had to have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career, through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year.

The eight girls that earned CRCA National Scholar-Athlete status were seniors Rosemarie Calabro (Hyattsville, Md./Stone Ridge), Whitney Cesari (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster Schools), Dana Goldman (Netwon, Mass./Milton Academy), Margaret Hupp (Kansas City, Mo./St. Teresa's Academy), Lauren Moldawer (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville), Samantha Wang (Leominster, Mass./Buckingham, Browne and Nichols) and juniors Maria Lipperini (Collingswood, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) and Elizabeth Reahard (Scottsdale, Ariz./Phoenix Country Day School). This is the second year in a row that Wang has received this award.

"Earning these awards is a testament to the hard work put forth by these young ladies," said Women's Heavyweight Varsity Coach Jimmy King. "To be able to handle the rigors of a crew season and balance that with academics is an outstanding accomplishment that these ladies should be proud of."
