Georgetown Field Hockey Falls to Top-Ranked Tar Heels 11-0

Sept. 7, 2008

Final Stats

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Georgetown field hockey team (0-4) could not stop the offense of top-ranked North Carolina (2-2), as the Tar Heels had three multi-goal scorers on their way to an 11-0 win against the Hoyas on Sunday.

UNC went to work right away, as Britt Van Beek's shot deflected into the goal off the right post, just under five minutes into the match. Less than two minutes later Danielle Forword scored an unassisted goal. Van Beek scored again just over a minute later, before Illse Davids went on to score three of the next five first half goals. Overall, North Carolina would outshoot GU 18-1 in the first half for a total of eight goals, removing any uncertainty of the outcome. Freshman Kalli Krumpos (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) managed the Blue and Gray's lone shot of the game.

The Tar Heels did not let up in the second half, outshooting the Hoyas 14-0, scoring three more goals to take an 11-0 victory.

Senior Dee Crovo (Millersville, Md./Severna Park)finished with seven saves for Georgetown.

Georgetown will begin their home schedule on Thursday, September 11 when they host Northwestern at 7 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.
