Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Lehigh today on Kehoe Field. The Mountain Hawks won their first game of the season to improve to 1-2 on the year and the Hoyas fell to 1-2. Sophomore forward Katie Lachman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) scored the lone goal of the game, it was her third of the season.

The Hoyas struck first when freshman forward Kristen Volpe (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) dished a pass to Lachman, who scored the first goal of the game. The 1-0 lead would not be enough as Lehigh scored two goals and outshot the Hoyas, 14-6 before the end of the half.

Georgetown was more aggressive in the second half as they matched Lehigh with 10 shots taken and four corner opportunities. The Mountain Hawks scored three more times in the second half for the 5-1 victory.

Senior Abby Winer (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) and sophomore Deirdre Crovo (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) shared time in the goal today. Winer recorded eight saves while Crovo contributed one.

The Hoyas return to the field tomorrow, September 10 when they host Robert Morris at noon on Kehoe Field.
