Hoyas Field Hockey Announces 2008 Schedule

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University Field Hockey team has released its schedule for the 2008 season. The Hoyas schedule features five teams ranked in the final 2007 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Coaches Poll.

GU will open the season at Ohio University on Saturday, August 30 at noon. It will mark the first meeting between the Hoyas and Bobcats.

For the second season the Hoyas will make its home at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Facility at University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The Blue and Gray will play eight home games, including non-conference matches against Northwestern (Sept. 11), Lehigh (Sept. 12), Rider (Sept. 30), Towson (Oct. 15) and Bucknell (Oct.19), as well as BIG EAST Conference matches with Rutgers (Sept. 26), Syracuse (Oct. 10) and Providence (Oct. 26). Georgetown will travel to the University of Connecticut (Oct. 4), Villanova (Oct. 17) and Louisville (Nov. 1) to round out its conference schedule.

The Hoyas will meet both participants from the 2007 NCAA Championship game. On Sunday, September 7, GU will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on defending national champion North Carolina. GU will travel to State College, Pa. for a Friday, September 19 match against Penn State.
