Georgetown senior Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) shot a two-over par 74 in the final round and tied for fifth place overall, leading the Hoya women's golf team to a ninth place finish at the LPGA International-Xavier Invite, held

The Hoyas were tied for sixth place after Saturday's second round and shot a 21-over par 309 to finish ninth in the 15-team field with a 54-hole score of 62-over par 926. Yale won the event with a 38-over par 902, one stroke ahead of Florida Atlantic, second at 39-over par 903. Eastern Michigan placed third at 41-over par 905, followed by Lamar (48-over par 912) and Bethune-Cookman (52-over par 916). Stetson placed sixth (56-over par 920) with Daytona State College, Barry, Georgetown and Charleston Southern rounding out the top-10 teams.

Curtis tied for fifth place in the field of 78 golfers, carding a six-over par 222. It was Curtis' third-straight top-five finish this season. She posted scores of three-over par 75 and one-over par 73 before today's round.

Lamar's Therese Nilsson took medalist honors, shooting a one-under par 215, including a one-under par 71 in the final round.

Senior Carly Hunt (Easton, Pa./Conestoga) tied for 20th place at 12-over par 228, finishing the tournament with a seven-over par 79 in the final round.

Freshman Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) shot a 21-over par 237 and tied for 39th place, while classmate Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) tied for 49th place at 26-over par 242. Sophomore Robyn English (Warwick, R.I./St. Mary Academy) tied for 59th place at 30-over par 246.

The Hoyas close out the fall portion of their season next weekend, competing at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. from October 19-21.
