4/5/2004 Sandwich, MA – The Georgetown University women’s golf team, under the direction of Head Coach Leland Beckel, won the 9th Annual Lady Eagle Invitational, held Saturday-Sunday, April 3-4, at The Ridge Club in Sandwich, Mass. The Hoyas posted one of the best finishes ever, with five Hoyas finishing in the top 20 in the tournament. The victory seals a spot for Georgetown in the BIG EAST Tournament for the second-consecutive year. Georgetown bested a field of 12 to earn the team title, defeating Boston College by three strokes, 638 (326, 312) to 641 (326, 315). St. John’s finished one stroke back from BC with a 642 to capture third place. Brown took fourth (658) and Harvard was fifth (676). Sophomore Christy Larrimore (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) continues to enjoy a terrific spring season. Larrimore won the Lady Eagle Invitational with a seven-over-par 149 (76, 73). Christin Thomson of St. John’s was Larrimore’s closest competitor with a 157 (81, 76). The Ridge Club features a par 71, 5,802-yard course. Junior Connie Isler (Annapolis, Md./Meade) was the second finisher for the Hoyas. Isler carded a 162 (79, 83) to tie for ninth place overall. Sophomore Nicole Hayashi (Westlake Village, Calif./Thousand Oaks) tallied a 165 (84, 81) to claim 15th place. Sophomore Erin Cockren (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and freshman Rosalina Ascolani (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) tied for 19th place with Jennifer Cronan of Harvard. All three golfers posted a 167. Cockren shot 87 and 80, while Azcolani registered an 89 and 78 for the two-day tournament. The top four women's teams in the BIG EAST compete in the 54-hole championship. The women’s tournament will be held at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. from April 23 - 25. In addition to the individual and team award winners, the top individual finishers receive all-conference honors.
