Larrimore Wins 2004 Maryland Women’s Amateur Golf Championship

7/26/2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgetown University’s Christy Larrimore (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spaulding), a junior on the women’s golf team, won the 2004 Women’s Amateur Golf Championship presented by the Maryland State Golf Association. Larrimore, a rising junior, posted a one-up victory over Mallory Crossland with a final score of 73 on Friday, July 23. She was the youngest champion since 1997.

Larrimore was in contention for the title the entire tournament. In the championship round on Friday, Larrimore was three-up at the 12th hole, but by the 16th, the lead had diminished.  On the 17th, she regained the lead by one and held it as the last hole was played. In the semifinals on Thursday, Larrimore triumphed in the semifinals with a two-up victory over Lesley Stracks.  On Wednesday, Larrimore narrowly defeated Kim Daniels, making her only birdie of the day on the final hole for the one-up decision.  In the first round on Tuesday, Larrimore was the leader, defeating all her opponents with the overall lowest score.

Larrimore adds this championship to her list as she enjoyed a spectacular spring season for the Hoyas.  Larrimore was the individual runner-up at the BIG EAST Championship and placed first at the Lady Eagle Invitational in the Ridge Club, Sandwich, Mass.
