Georgetown Women's Golf Opens Season on Sunday at Badger Invitational

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's golf team opens the 2007-08 season on Sunday when the team begins play in the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis.

The Badger Invitational will be held at the par-72, 6,175 yard University Ridge course. The Hoyas are one of 12 teams competing in the field. Tee time is set for 8:30 a.m. Sunday for the first two rounds with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. Monday.

This is the first of five events for the Hoyas this fall. After completing the tournament in Wisconsin, the Blue and Gray return home and compete next at the Princeton Invitational on Sept. 22-23. The fall schedule also includes a visit to the Yale Invitational (Sept. 29-30), the Legends of Indiana Fall Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8) and the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 13-14).

This is the second-straight year Georgetown has played in the Badger Invitational, the alma mater of Head Coach Patty Post.

Georgetown returns eight letterwinners from last season's team, including senior captains Stephanie Cope (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Visitation Prep) and Jenna Winokur (Springlake, N.J./Wall). Others back include senior Marie Bos (Orlando, Fla./Trinity Prep), junior Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy), senior Katie Dwyer (Allentown, Pa./Moravian Academy), junior Carly Hunt (Easton, Pa./Conestoga), and senior Madeleine Nguyen (Atherton, Calif./Menlo).

The team also includes sophomore transfer Robyn English (Warwick, R.I./St. Mary Academy) and a trio of freshmen who will get their first taste of college golf this fall as well: Christine Curley (Vienna, Va./James Madison), Raelyn Farley (Colts Neck, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and Charlotte Zink (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal).
