Women's Golf Will Travel to the Midwest to Play Badger Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University women's golf will play in the 2008 Badger Invitational this Saturday and Sunday Sept. 27- 28. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wis. The course is a par-72 and 6,216 yards. This is the third year the tournament has been held at the University Ridge Golf Course.

The Badgers will play host to Georgetown and a total of 10 other teams, including the top-ranked Cal, College of Charleston, Illinois, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Southern Methodist and Tulane. Georgetown is the only BIG EAST conference team that will be competing in the Badger Invitational.

The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The last 18 holes will be played on Sunday; pairings will be made based on score.

Junior Carly Hunt (Easton, Pa./Conestoga ) tied for 13th place shooting 8-over-par 152, and sophomore Christine Curley (Vienna, Va./James Madison) tied for 42nd, shooting 18-over-par 162, last year at the 2007 Badger Invitational. Overall, Georgetown placed eighth in the 2007 Badger Invitational.

Last week the Hoyas played in the Princeton Invitational, in Princeton, N.J. Junior Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) won the individual event and Georgetown placed sixth overall.

Following the Badger Invitational the Hoyas will head south to play the Xavier Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla.
