NASHVIILE, Tenn. - Junior All-American attacker Erin Elbe (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) scored four goals to lead the #3 Georgetown University Hoyas to a 10-4 victory over the #13 Vanderbilt University Commodores in women's lacrosse action on Sunday, March 4, at Vanderbilt Lacrosse Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. With the win, Georgetown improves to 2-0 on the season, while Vanderbilt falls to 0-1.

Georgetown got on the scoreboard first, with senior midfielder Sarah Oglesby (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) scoring in just the first minute of play. Elbe then added two of her game-high goals. Vanderbilt finally answered midway through the first half, with senior Amanda Rice connecting on a free position shot. The Hoyas took a 5-1 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Vanderbilt capitalized on a scoring drive five minutes into the second period, but GU responded with Elbe notching her third goal of the day less than a minute later. The Commodores would put up two more points, but they could not stop the powerful Hoya attack as Georgetown tallied four more goals to earn a 10-5 win.

In addition to Elbe's four goals in the contest, Oglesby contributed two and Sheehan Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Kate Ahearn (So., Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's), Anouk Peters (Fr., Ipswich, Mass./Milbrook School) and Melissa Ellers (Fr., Swathmore, Pa./Swathmore) added one apiece to the winning effort.

Senior All-American goalkeeper Bowen Holden (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) turned away six Vanderbilt shots while allowing four goals in the contest. Vandy netminder Emily Lough stopped 13 GU shots and allowed 10 goals. The Hoyas outshot the Commodores 29-13.

Georgetown continues its road trip with 12:00 Noon game against Virginia Tech on Wednesday, March 7, in Orlando, Fla.
