ORLANDO, FL -- Senior All-American attacker Sheehan Stanwick (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) tallied six goals and four assists to lead the third ranked Georgetown University Hoyas to a 21-7 victory over the 20^th ranked Virginia Tech Hokies on Wednesday, March 7, in women's lacrosse action in at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Kate Ahearn (Jr., Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls), Wick Stanwick (So., Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep), and Sarah Oglesby (Sr., Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) all contributed three goals apiece as the Hoyas recorded a season-high 21 goals, GU's highest output since 1998.

Georgetown got on the board first when Ahearn scored the first of her three goals one minute and 48 seconds into the contest. Virginia Tech followed with a goal of its own but the Hoyas ran off seven unanswered goals. S. Stanwick scored five of her six goals during that time while Oglesby added two and W. Stanwick one. After the Hokies' Jane Poole ended their drought, GU struck again with goals by Oglesby, Elizabeth Ryan (So., Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School), and Anouk Peters (Fr., Ipswich, Mass./Millbrook School), to extend the Hoya lead to 11-2 at the half.

S. Stanwick started the second half much the same as the first, as she scored her sixth goal of the day at the 28:29 mark. GU and Tech traded goals as W. Stanwick and Reagan Raneri (Sr., Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country School) found the back of the net before Ahearn's posted two second-half goals to increase Georgetown's lead to 16-5. W. Stanwick and S. Stanwick each scored once more while All-American junior attacker Erin Elbe (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) contributed two goals to the GU effort. Tracy Weickel (So., Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) posted her first goal of the season with 3:20 remaining in the contest to give Georgetown the 21-7 win.

Junior All-American goalie Bowen Holden (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) posted seven saves on the day for Georgetown to earn the victory.

Georgetown is now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in BIG EAST play, while the Hokies fall to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Hoyas stay on the road to play William & Mary on Wednesday, March 14. The next home game for Georgetown is Saturday, March 17, when GU hosts BIG EAST rival Syracuse at 1:00 p.m.
