Nolan on Buonomo - "Michaela is an outstanding central defender, great in the air, tough in the tackle and a born leader. She is extremely competitive and plays with great courage. I expect her to have a strong four-year career at Georgetown leading our backline. We are very happy to have her in our program."

Prior to Georgetown - Buonomo was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania ODP Program. She was the captain of her club team, the Pennsylvania Strikers, one of the top squads in the country. Buonomo had a stellar career at Council Rock South High School where the scholar athlete was named the Courier Times 2007 Player of the Year. She also earned First Team All-League and Team MVP honors as a junior.
