Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team (2-1-0) suffered its first loss on Tuesday night at James Madison, 2-1. The Dukes (3-0-0), ranked sixth in the SoccerBuzz rankings for the Mid-Atlantic Region, remained undefeated after the Hoya rally fell short. Georgetown's goal came with just over 10 minutes remaining. Senior Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) collected a loose ball and sent a high shot into the net from 23 yards away. The Blue and Gray's only other shot on goal came early in the contest when junior Brittany Berry (Gaithersburg, Md./Georgetown Visitation) was denied by JMU goalkeeper Missy Reimert Cate Tisinger got the Dukes on the scoreboard in the 29th minute. Laura Hertz lofted a pass ahead to Tisinger who slipped a shot past Georgetown freshman goalkeeper Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) into the far corner of the goal. In the second half, Megan Deaver netted her first career goal in the 68th minute to push the lead to 2-0. Jess Remmes delivered a long pass into the box to Deaver, whose initial shot was stopped by DesJardin. However, Deaver collected the rebound and beat the GU keeper from four yards out. Georgetown held a 9-7 advantage on shots, however the Hoyas only put two on goal, as opposed to five by James Madison. Georgetown remains on the road this weekend for the George Mason Tournament. The Hoyas will play George Washington at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 7 and Stony Brook at noon on Sunday, September 9.
