Late First Half Goal Lifts Seton Hall Past Georgetown, 1-0

Sept. 24, 2006

Box Score

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team lost its fourth-straight game on Sunday afternoon, a 1-0 decision at Seton Hall. The Hoyas, who have been held scoreless in each of the four losses, fall to 3-5-3 overall and 0-3-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Pirates even up at 5-5-0 overall and move to 1-2-0 in the league.

The winning tally was scored late in the first half as Seton Hall took advantage of one of its five corner kicks in the game. Meagan DeWan sent the corner to Jen Michewicz deep in the box, who flicked the ball up to the head of Kaitlyn Rogers. Rogers buried the header for her third goal of the season at 43:23.

Georgetown pressured Pirate keeper Amanda Becker all afternoon, taking 13 shots, with eight of them on goal, however, Becker and the SHU defense did not break. The Hoyas also held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hoyas return to the Hilltop for a critical weekend of BIG EAST contests, hosting Providence at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 29 and Connecticut on Sunday, October 1 at 1 p.m.
