Women's Soccer Ends Season with 6-0 Loss to Notre Dame

Oct. 30, 2005

Box Score

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's soccer team (12-8-1) lost to Notre Dame, 6-0, in BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinal action today on Alumni Field on the Notre Dame campus. Georgetown finishes with a single-season high, 12 victories.

The Hoyas fell to the Fighting Irish (17-2-0) just one week ago on Alumni Field, 6-1. Today's game was all too similar as the most recent tilt between the schools.

ND's Kerri Hanks started off by scoring at 10:23 with the assist going to Brittany Bock and Katie Thorlakson. To further the Irish lead, Jen Buczkowski took the ball to beat GU goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, N.Y./West Hempstead) on the left-side scoring an unassisted goal. Notre Dame led 2-0 to end the first half.

Notre Dame found the back of the net again when Ashley Jones ripped one past Higgins, the assist again going to Bock and Thorlakson at the 54:30 mark.

Hanks would score her second goal for the Irish today when Buczkowski and Amanda Cinalli set her up for a shot in the lower left corner of the goal. Less than 20 seconds later, the Irish would score again, reminiscent of the last game when the Irish scored three goals in one minute. Thorlakson took the ball through GU defenders and shot it past Higgins with the assist going to Hanks and Jill Krivacek to extend the Irish lead to five.

With just over two minutes remaining, Beth Koloup put the game away with the sixth goal for the Irish, the assist going to Susan Pinnick and Maggie Manning.

This game ends the 2005 Georgetown women's soccer season.
