1/8/2002

Washington, D.C. –Georgetown freshman Elizabeth Roberti (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Southside) has been named to the 2001 Soccer Buzz Magazine Mid-Atlantic Region All-Freshman team. This marks the first time that a Georgetown freshman women’s soccer player has been honored by Buzz.

Roberti, a defender, was one of the Hoyas’ top scorers this season, garnering three goals and five assists for 11 points. She started in all 19 of Georgetown’s games this year and earned points in five contests. Roberti scored two goals in the Hoyas’ 4-3 win over Binghamton in the first round of the ECAC Tournament and earned a goal and an assist in Georgetown’s 2-0 shutout of James Madison.

Georgetown finished the 2001 season with an 11-7-1 overall record, a 1-4-1 BIG EAST record and an ECAC Division I Women’s Soccer title. The Hoyas were ranked as high as ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region by Soccer Buzz and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) throughout the season. The 2001 season also boasted the first nationally-ranked recruiting class in Georgetown history. The new Hoyas were ranked 37th in the nation out of 300 Division I schools and sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
