Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's soccer team had five players receive postseason awards from the BIG EAST Conference. Junior Toni Marie Hudson (Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) was named All-BIG EAST Second Team, while freshman Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) and sophomore Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) were named All-BIG EAST Third Team and sophomore Caitlin Durkee (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) and senior Stephanie Zare (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) received All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention. The five players honored are the most for a Georgetown women's soccer team. The announcement came at the annual awards banquet held the night before the semifinal games of the BIG EAST Championship. Hudson has started 15 games for the Hoyas and leads the team in scoring with 10 goals. She is currently third in the BIG EAST in goals and fourth in the conference in points. Her 10 goals also tie her for the single-season record at Georgetown with former Hoya standouts Chrissy Skogen and Jessie Beers-Altman. Her 24 points rank her fourth on the single-season scoring list behind Altman, and current teammates Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) and Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson). Hudson also recorded three game-winning goals this season in contests against UMBC, Mississippi State and Villanova. D'Ambrisi is currently third on the team in goals and points while starting every game of her freshman season on the Hilltop. The midfielder recorded a season-high three points in the win at Villanova and scored the game-winning goal against Rutgers at North Kehoe Field.
DesJardin, who has received numerous weekly accolades from the conference throughout the season, broke her own single-season shutout record with nine. She also helped the Hoyas set a new team record for shutouts in a season as the group currently stands at 11. Her 0.74 goals-against average ranks sixth in the conference and an .843 save percentage puts her fourth in the league. Durkee is tied for the team lead with 10 assists and is fourth on the team in points. The sophomore has played in every game for the Hoyas, serving as an integral part of their midfield, and is fourth in the league (top 30 nationally) in assists. She scored her first goal of the season in the team's BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinal contest against UConn. She dished out a season-high three helpers on Senior Day against DePaul. Zare has started every game for the Hoyas and has not missed a start over the past three seasons. The senior co-captain is tied for third on the team in assists with five and fifth on the team in points. Zare scored the winning goal in a non-conference affair with Ohio University. |
