Lauren May is in her first year as an assistant coach with the Georgetown softball program. May will work primarily with the hitters and the infield. May arrives on the Hilltop after serving as the graduate assistant coach of the Ithaca College softball team during the 2006-07 season. While at Ithaca May was responsible for developing a weight-lifting program and hitting approach for the 22 student-athletes. She assisted in the development of practice plans for a nationally-ranked Division III softball program. Additionally May provided support to the head coach, including organizing road trips, home stands and other functions, while building a productive team through leadership, motivation, accountability and recognition. May played her collegiate softball at Cornell University and was an NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) All-America Third Team selection before graduating with a bachelor of arts in psychology in 2005. She was a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year (2004, 2005) and was the 2002 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. She earned Ivy League accolades all four years she played for the Big Red including being a three-time member of the All-Ivy League First Team (2002, 2004, 2005). She was the 2005 ECAC (East Coast Athletic Conference) Player of the Year and a three-time Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region First Team selection. |
