CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Georgetown University softball team (11-23) struggled against Radford University (20-7), falling in the championship game of the Cavalier Classic, 14-0 in five innings. Despite the loss, it was the first time the Hoyas have played in a tournament championship game in the program's three-season existence. The Highlanders batted around in the first inning, sending 11 batters to the plate, scoring five runs on six hits to put the game away early. Radford would add four more runs in the second inning, before tacking on five more in the fourth to put the Hoyas away. Sophomore Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits in an inning of work. Sophomore Samantha Peters (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) reached base twice, with a base hit and a walk. The Hoyas return home to Guy Mason Field for a doubleheader against LaSalle University on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m.
