DiSilvio Named to 2003 Verizon Academic All-District Team

7/7/2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Recent Georgetown University graduate Francesca DiSilvio (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) was selected as an at-large candidate for the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District Team.  DiSilvio was a member of Hoyas’ swimming and diving program, and graduated with a 3.889 GPA in May 2003. Her academic and athletic accomplishments earned her a spot on the All-District Second Team, along with fellow Hoyas Melissa Biles (lacrosse) and Liora Gelblum (tennis).

In the 2002-2003 season, DiSilvio posted the swimming team’s second best times in the 100-yard freestyle (55.31), 50-yard backstroke (30.08), 100-yard backstroke (1:03.19) and 200-yard backstroke (2:11.96).  As a member of the 800-meter freestyle relay team at the ECAC Championships, DiSilvio helped Georgetown to a 16th place event finish (8:06.98) and 22nd place overall team score.

The Georgetown women's swimming and diving team ranked No. 13 in the nation last season in the College Swim Coaches Association of America’s listing of Academic All-America Teams. The Hoya women accrued a 3.391 team GPA, while the men ranked No. 4 in the nation with a 3.354 GPA.

DiSilvio was a Spanish major, and a four-year letterwinner for the swimming and diving team.
