Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University cross country team was represented in both the men's and women's preseason national rankings, released today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USFTCCCA).

The men rank 16th in the first national poll of the year and first in the Mid-Atlantic regional ranking. Wisconsin sits atop the national poll, followed by Colorado, Iona, Oregon and Arkansas. The Hoyas are fourth among BIG EAST Conference foes, trailing Providence (11th), Notre Dame (13th) and Louisville (15th).

The women are 21st nationally and sit second in the Mid-Atlantic region behind Princeton. Stanford is the preseason favorite in the national poll, ahead of Michigan, Colorado, Arkansas and Wisconsin. Providence, ranked ninth, is the lone BIG EAST team above the Georgetown.

The Blue & Gray begin the 2007 season on Saturday, September 15 at the James Madison Invitational.
