Nov. 22, 2008 IC4A Championship Results | ECAC Championship Results WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University cross country team sent a small contingent of student-athletes to compete at the ECAC / IC4A Cross Country Championships today, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's team placed sixth of 11 while the men's team finished 14th of 15. Meanwhile, Georgetown has been in Terre Haute, Ind., since Friday to prepare for the NCAA Championships, held this Monday, November 24. Senior Avril Ogrodnick (Beaconsfield, Quebec/Beaconsfield) was the top Hoya finisher as she took seventh place overall with a time of 18:17 in the women's 5000m run. Junior Kelsey Malmquist (Williston Park, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) was the second member of GU's team to cross the finish line as she placed 15th with a time of 18:28 followed by classmate Marcie Sobrinski (Treichlers, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) in 18th (18:33). Cornell led the field with 67 points, followed by Harvard (79), William & Mary (87), James Madison (107), Maryland (114), Georgetown (181), West Virginia (187), Delaware (188), Duke (203), Yale (234) and Saint Joseph's (315). On the men's side, freshman Liam Boylan-Pett (Bath, Mich.) led the Blue & Gray with a 23rd place finish as he timed in at 25:50. Senior Alex Mason (Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy Prep) was the second to cross the finish line with a time of 26:01 in the five mile run. The men's field was led by Duke (48), followed by Duquesne (87), Marist (102), Cornell (157), Princeton (183), Columbia (193), Yale (195), William & Mary (219), LaSalle (222), Saint Joseph's (262), Harvard (271), George Mason (274), Massachusetts (278), Georgetown (298), and Delaware (307).
The cross country season will conclude on Monday, November 24 as the Hoyas send 10 male and seven female student-athletes to the NCAA Championships. The races will be aired live from noon-1:30 p.m. on CBS College Sports and will also be available on a live video stream at www.ncaa.com. |
