Julie Allen is in her second year as
an assistant coach with the Georgetown
University volleyball program. Allen handles
opponent scouting, video breakdown, match
preparation, team development skills and offseason
recruiting for Georgetown volleyball.
Allen participated in the 2007 NCAA
Women Coaches Academy Dimension 2 in
Denver, Colo. The academy is designed for
women coaches who are ready and willing to
increase their individual effectiveness through
learning advanced skills and strategies that directly
affect their personal and team success.
A 2005 graduate of the NCAA Women's
Coaches Academy, Allen was selected to
participate in this academy that provides skills
training for coaches at all levels to assist them
in being more effi cient, productive, resourceful
and successful. In addition to the academy,
Allen worked with several high-performance
camps during the summer.
Allen, a 2002 graduate of the University
of Portland, came to the Hilltop after spending
the 2004 and 2005 seasons as an
assistant coach at Chico State University
(Calif.) helping to direct the Wildcats in the
California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Allen assisted in all aspects of the program
including recruiting, travel and summer camps. Also, while at Chico State, Allen was
the head coach of the men's club team
which earned a fifth place finish in the national
tournament.
During the summer of 2005, Allen graduated
from the NCAA Women's Coaches
Academy in Denver, Colo., an experience
that allowed her to enhance her professional
growth as a collegiate coach.
The Sebastopol, Calif. native was head
coach at the Empire Volleyball Club in Santa
Rosa from January 2000 to July 2004,
providing instructional training sessions for
children of all ages. Allen was also the head
coach at Santa Rosa Middle School and
Tualatin High School (Ore.).
During her collegiate playing days, Allen
was a four-year setter for the Portland Pilots.
She stands at fifth all-time at Portland in
career assists with 2,042.
