TAMPA, Fla - The Georgetown University volleyball team (11-9, 4-3 BIG EAST) fell in three sets to the University of South Florida (13-8, 4-3 BIG EAST) on Saturday night, as the Bulls held the Hoyas to a team attack percentage of .062 to win, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16. Junior Courtney Cohen (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) led the Hoyas with seven kills on 13 chances and freshman Ashley Malone (San Jose, Calif./St. Francis) had 12 assists in the Hoyas loss. In the first set Georgetown jumped out in front early, leading by as many as five as junior Jessica Hardy (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) had a kill and served the Hoyas to three straight points. South Florida rallied back tying the score at 10 and went on 10-4 run on the way to a 25-15 victory. The Hoyas again stuck with South Florida early in the second set tying the score at seven. Again the Bulls went on a run, going on a 13-3 behind six straight service points from Marcela Gurgel to go up 20-10. Georgetown would rally, closing the gap to as little as four, 22-18. But the Hoyas could not complete the rally, as the dropped the second set 25-20. The third set was more of the same as the Hoyas and Bulls were tied at nine, before Stephanie Augustavo served South Florida to six straight points, opening a six point lead. Georgetown was unable to recover as the Bulls won 25-16 to clinch the match, 3-0.
