WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore middle blocker Vanessa Dorismond (Cary, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the first time in her career after the Georgetown volleyball team defeated Villanova and Seton Hall over the weekend. Dorismond, who performed the national anthem before both weekend matches, played a crucial role on the court in the Hoyas success, hitting .500 with nine kills in a three-set win against the Wildcats on Friday. She went on to lead the GU with 17 kills on 41 chances in a five-set thriller against Seton Hall on Sunday. "I'm excited for Vanessa," Georgetown head coach Arlisa Williams said. "She has worked very hard and had some very good practices over the last two weeks, so this served as a fitting reward for all of her effort." Dorismond finished the season second on the squad in hitting percentage (.275) and total blocks (37). Her 172 kills is good for fourth on the team.
